No One Cares About Your Strava

With 2021 coming to a close, I always like to review my accomplishments in the great outdoors. I love to bike/run/hike/etc and try to do something physical every day. The big events this year were

  1. I acquired my Giant Revolt gravel bike
  2. I broke my hand in a bike crash, which relegated me to hiking for a good bit of the summer
  3. After recovering, I restructured my workouts to mix it up a bit – less cycling, more running, and even some gym days to give my upper body more to think about than occasional yardwork

With that said, I managed to:

Ride 2387 miles (189 rides, 227 hours, just under 250k vertical feet) – I’d say about half was on my gravel bike, which ranged from all road to mostly single track depending on the day.

Run 277 miles (68 runs, 49 hours, 26k vertical feet)

Do a lot of hikes and walks. Unfortunately Strava doesn’t provide a handy way to total these up. Lame. I could manually copy data from the search into a spreadsheet and total it up, but I don’t feel like I should have to.

In any event, it was a banner year for outside activity. I don’t love going back to the gym, but it is good for me and a set of Airpods helps the time go faster.
